Biographical Sketch
Pedro Alberto Zavaleta was born on 3 July, 1881 in Ciudad Mier, Mier, Tamaulipas, Mexico. He was the son of Bartolo Zavaleta and Eufemia Chapa,1 the second of ten children born to the couple. Pedro was baptized seventeen days after his birth on 20 July, 1881 at the Parroquia de la Inmaculada Concepción in Mier.2
At the age of 21, Pedro married Rafaela Mireles, on 10 May 1902 in Torreon, Coahuila.3 Rafaela was 17 at the time. Pedro and Rafaela had four children together.
Rafaela died at the age of 35 from postpartum ulcerative colitis from an infection she developed after the birth of Enrique.
At the age of 39, Pedro married Concepción García Gómez, on 2 July 1921 at the Catedral de Nuestra Señora del Refugio in Matamoros, Tamaulipas.4 Concepción was 20 at the time. Pedro and Concepción had six children together.
Pedro Zavaleta died on 15 March, 1965 at the age of 83 in Brownsville, Cameron, Texas.5 He died of a myocardial infarction, better known as a heart attack.
